Yes, it is possible, but the insurance does not always want to cooperate. Not every insurance company wants to enter into an agreement with you because you are only on the island for a short time. The advantage of renting a car on Curaçao is that the insurance is already included in the price, so you do not incur any extra costs.
Car repair costs on Curaçao
Cheap cars are 'headache' cars so keep in mind that when you buy a cheap car you will have to go to the garage.
Unfortunately car parts are not always in stock on the island so it has to be imported. This causes extra costs because you also have to pay import duties. Let alone the costs you have to incur for a replacement car as long as your car is at the garage.
All in all, we always advise to rent a car on Curaçao and not to buy a car for during your internship or work period. It takes a lot of arranging and you often lose more money than you initially thought. That stress is definitely not worth it!
